Many people say that Music is dead and I for one agree, at least for America. Music is gone and has been replaced by "Music." Many state "all genre's of music are good." Not all music genres are good. Take Death Metal. It's awful no matter how you look at it. For anything to be considered Music I believe that these three prerequisites should be met. 1. Thought 2. Skill. 3. Originality. Death Metal has failed in all three categories since it's origin due to it spawning after music had already died. Almost all music that comes out today will fail in these three categories. The American Music Industry has found a way to create "Music" that all sounds the same yet somehow they make it so that people still love them and never get bored of them. It requires less work from the producers and it makes them more money. As we all know, at the end of the day money is all that matters. So the only way for Music to rise over "Music" would be for the fanbase to ask for more Music rather than "Music." They're only looking for money so as with any other type of product if we request better they'll give better because in doing so they'll make more money. We've got to use their greed for our benefit. But the chances of enough people requesting Music are uh.... let's just say... It ain't gon' happen. So get ready to be old timers only listening to CD's during your glory years because any Music that could be has already been.
What's your take? If you disagree please point to some newer artists whom you believe meet the prerequisite of Music.

I just skimmed it but i'll just say music is certainly not dead. there may be a lot you do not prefer or a lot that isn't likeable by a few but its a newer generation. Every.Single. Generation. : Has a style of music that has branched off of another style. Music has always lacked some kind of skill/originality/ thought is some peoples eyes for every generation .bad talk" is music is dead"theory and Petitions would use to be held for little rhicard , elvis, nat king cole, and artist before them. Even in the rock 1960's boom it'd be restricted from the radio till later in time. I'm not downing your opinion totally cause its possibly a genre is on its last two legs but as a whole. Hell even bards had very little originality back in the day (not like i know personally just saying through documentary ) They usually repeated songs they've heard. Music can never die. You're either stubborn to cling to the past or you aren't looking in the right places. Sit and watch for music to evolve. my 20 cent. please no long replies this morning , i'm rather eye tired.

I don't think music is dead either. Each person has a different taste in music, but for each person one thing is always the same. They like music that gets to them. Wether it be by personal life experiences, or if the song just touches them in a way that they can't explain. Music will never die as long as their are artists out there who are trying to connect to people with their music. You can find these kind of people in every genre. I'm not a big fan of rap, but when I listen to people like Eminem or T.I, its hard not to like their music because you can tell they put their feelings into most of their stuff. I'll always be a country and rock fan, because that was what I was raised on. Now, with the rock genre, there might not be as many good artist as there was back in the 80s, but there are still a few out there. And with country, how can you say its dieing when you have artists like Brad Paisley and Tim McGraw still putting out their hits. Anyways, back to the point. For me, music is something that I can listen to and chill out. It can bring out a wide variety of emotions in a lot of people. John Mayer - Dreaming with a broken heart ALWAYS gets to me, and makes me remember the times in the past when I have felt like t hat. Korn - Coming Undone makes me want to get up and kick someones ass. Dobie Gray - Drift Away makes me forget about all my problems, and just mellows me out. As long as we have people who are trying to provoce some kind of emotion to the audience with their music, then music will never die

I think music hasn't died yet, but it is on the brink of extinction.
Why do you think we're hearing so many remixes of old songs now?

I do see your points Kuni and Kyo. I guess I really didn't word it too well. There'll always be music. But the general youth only appreciate things that aren't what you state. I don't hate music nowadays. I find them quite catchy and I can tap my toe to it but when all the topics are so simplistic and music has lost that soul, that heart that older music had, it's just kind of sad to see. Even in genre's I'm not too big on like country I can see the soul in older works and performances. So I guess I was really just pointing to mainstream nowadays.
I'm talking about very recently guys. Aerosmith and Eminem are older musicians.
