That was pretty meh as well. That's probably because I'm already ready to see this. I like where this story is being directed. I can tell I won't like Mary jane though but then I'll just be nitpicking.

I don't think im going to like this. Since when was Dr.Conner Peters father.....Everyone knows Peter's parents died in a car accident. So to me it seems like they're using some fictional story. Action looks good but the guy playing peter looks like he sucks.(All though that opinion might be a little biase seeing as how I really liked Toby's performance as Spidy in 1-3.) Last.........Webshooters fail.

See now I heard they died in a plane crash O.o You could be right. I just remember hearing that they died in a car accident in one of the Spider-Man cartoons.

This isn't going by the cartoon. It's going by the many versions of comic books. Also no one gave information to dick or mary past , this is just a trailer. You're kind of jumping to conclusions. You can even see when he was talking about his parents he had his father's tag that said "Richard Parker ". In this movie there's probably going to be a big secret with them like at some point there was.

Kuni the original comics had Gwen Stacy as his first lover. Mary Jane came later, seeing as she was much more popular (I'm assuming this) she became the staple in later renditions of Spider-Man as his first and only lover (including the Cartoons that have no mention of Gwen). This is more or less along the lines of the original comic, including his webshooters. Consider the movies with Toby more "fictional" than this one will be.
Also he said his father's name was Richard Parker, this was explicitly said by him in the trailer, I think Dr. Conner has a link to his father.
Another issue: Though his parent's were said to have died, this was never shown, neither validated in the show. Which gives this movie a premise to base it off of that. It's not uncommon in stories for things like that to be proven false to cover up a hidden truth in the near future. I'm psyched to see where they take this.
Edit: What I mean by "validated" is that there was no hard evidence given to prove that they had actually died. You know how conspiracy stuff goes.

I already knew this but seeing i haven't read the amazing sm since i was in 6th grade things slipped my mind. And no the last one gwen was never introduced because the first trilogy was based loosely on 1994 spiderman cartoon not because of popularity.

I mean in later versions of Spiderman, not just the movies but the 1994 cartoon, and other comics following The Amazing Spider Man, the writers chose to leave Gwen out for whatever reason. She was recently brought back in that new Spiderman series that only lasted a little while (Ultimate Spiderman or something? I am not sure what the show was called). Though I agree Toby's performance in the first 2 Spiderman movies was pretty good, his performance in the 3rd film was less than poor.

Maybe it's cause she is killed or something. Who knows. Also I don't see why people dislike sm3 xD. Only problem with is was that that they crammed all the villains in there and and didn't really give venom a host to fight against spiderman himself.

There are multiple spiderman universes which is why they are able to remake spider mans image hence "The Amazing Spiderman"

That was precisely why people dislike it Kuni. They tried to put too much into one movie, to be honest Venom could be the main villain of a movie himself, and they tried to cram 3 major villains into one movie (2nd Green Goblin, Sandman, Venom) which resulted in a rather poor progression of the story (it was too fast without explaining a lot, since each villain could potentially hold their own movie). The movie would've needed to be longer or separated into a sequence of connected films in order for them to do an acceptable job.
@lemoni, yes, there are multiple Spiderman universes, this is also true with nearly all of marvel comics and a lot of dc comics. However, "The Amazing Spider Man" is probably going to be based off of the original comic book by the same title, adding light to what was never covered within it essentially just extending the original story.

Personally I thought it was good, long, but good. I don't really see why many people disliked it aside from the fact it's unlike most movies about superheroes. Rorshach is favorite.

People were too busy thinking "Spandex super hero outfit = explosions!" The story was better than any superhero thing ever I've encountered.
I love Rorschach's character the most, but I found Dr. Manhattan to be the most interesting.. I can't really choose one over the other.

The 1994 Spider-Man Cartoon was my favorite and imo the best Spider-Man cartoon ever. Only thing I hated about it was that the show ended before Peter could find the real Mary Jane :/
